Filet Crochet Wallhanging: The Angry Governess
Material: Cotton
Size: 25 by 24 cm
The Governess of the picture was created from a 18th century design, where she had been embroidered onto a pillowslip. I think that the way her eyes are left as hollows makes her quite scary and I imagine her standing at a nursery door aghast at the mess that the children have made! This picture is crocheted in beige coloured cotton with a darker brown coloured cotton border. It has wooden rods at each end to keep the picture flat, and a string at the top for hanging. The picture is intended to be hung against a contrasting coloured wall, or against a window, so that the detail really stands out.
